The Ponemon Institute recently concluded a study in which IT and IT security practitioners were surveyed regarding their network security. Of the 583 U.S. participants, 90% admitted to having experienced at least one breach in the last year and 59% of those affected reported having multiple breaches. When asked to estimate the cost associated with rectifying these security breaches, 41% of respondents reported costs of $500,000 or more, while another 16% were unable to determine the amount at the time of the survey.*
